Midwest Concierge Medicine

Have a Midwest Concierge Medicine-related question? We have the answer. Check out these FAQs and give us a call today for more information!

  • What is Concierge Medicine?

Concierge medicine provides members with an exceptionally high level of service from their primary care physician. This includes improved access, preventive care, health screenings, a plan for wellness, and urgent care issues.  Because we have a limited number of membership spots, concierge physicians have more time to dedicate to each individual when compared to a traditional primary care doctor.

  • What Can I Expect During My Visit With Concierge Medicine?

During your visit with your Concierge Medicine primary care physician, you can expect to receive a comprehensive exam and health screening, and a detailed discussion with your doctor on preventive care. You may also receive referrals to specialists if needed.

  • What Are the Benefits of Concierge Medicine?

Because our doctors see fewer patients each day, they have more time for you. Our highly regarded doctors will work with you to develop a personalized healthcare plan. During your visit, you’ll enjoy an in-depth discussion of your health with your physician, with time to provide detailed answers to any questions you may have. We can provide unparalleled expertise on a range of medical issues. Over the 15 years of practicing in the Des Moines Metro, we have established close relationships with nearly every specialty group.  This allows for expedited referrals.  We don’t just fax an order, we call the specialist on your behalf.

  • Who Would Benefit From Concierge Medicine?

Concierge Medicine is designed for busy individuals and their families who are seeking a more personalized doctor-patient experience. If you want access to high-quality primary care and urgent care including telehealth visits while you are traveling the U.S., concierge medicine may be just what you are looking for.

  • What is the Physician Availability?

Our Concierge Medicine staff will work with you to schedule a convenient appointment time. Physicians will be available to patients via the portal 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with varied response times.

  • Can I See a Specialist?

Yes, if you have a need to see a specialist, your physician, and the Concierge Medicine staff will help you identify the most appropriate specialist, provide a referral, and help facilitate scheduling.

  • Do I Need to Maintain Insurance?

Yes, the membership fee covers an exceptionally high level of service, improved access to your care physician, and coordination of specialist care as needed.  We do not take insurance but if you need labs or imaging, or have a need for hospitalization, you would want to have insurance for these fees.

  • Is There a Copay?

No. The annual membership fee will cover your copay.

  • Can I Use My Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to Cover the Membership Fee?

No. Flexible Spending Accounts only cover costs directly related to a qualified medical service that has been provided. The membership fee covers an exceptionally high level of personal customer service, improved access to your primary care physician, and coordination of specialist care as needed, so is not eligible. Medical services provided by your concierge doctor or specialists can be paid for from your FSA account.

  • When is the Membership Fee Due?

The annual membership fee is due when you sign an agreement with Midwest Concierge Medicine. The agreement and fee can be renewed annually.
